Beijing, 19th April 2024 (BISTU)--- The 2024 Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs of BISTU successfully completed on 19th April 2024 at Shahe Campus. The Conference, addressed by Vice President Xiao Zhisong, was aimed at implementing arrangements of BISTU and supervising institutions on educational globalization and strengthening BISTU schools’ global awareness and global competences.  

Xiao Zhisong pointed out that the University is now on an opening phase in building BISTU into a globalized institution and we are facing with both opportunities and challenges. He explained the implications and meanings of educational globalization at BISTU in three dimensions, i.e., what a globalized BISTU is like, why BISTU should go global, and how to build a globalized BISTU. It offered a sound interpretation of the important role of educational globalization in talent cultivation, academic research, and social service.  

Xiao Zhisong stressed that in the first place all must enhance political awareness and bear in mind that all things concerning foreign affairs matter. Second, with a global vision, we should stand at the forefront of the times bursting with commitment: pursuing lofty ideals with a firm belief to broaden global horizon of all faculty and students and to guide them to seize the precious opportunities coming along with educational globalization so that they would make greater contributions to development of BISTU. And third, we shall be confident, self-reliant, and innovative. We are to show our confidence, lift the level of international cooperation, and seek to work together with high-level institutions in Europe and America while strengthening collaboration with the countries of the Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN. We shall endeavor to achieve globalization of industry-education integration and play a bigger role in international organizations.  

Director Qu Li of International Cooperation Department offered an explanation on the guidelines and arrangements of supervising institutions on foreign affairs. Centering on the Conference, she explicated the general requirement, objective, and ways of work of the University on educational globalization in 2024 as well as indexes concerning assessment of Beijing Municipality on educational globalization. All BISTU schools are to play a role in educational globalization. Qu Li said.  

Aiming at strengthening the working style with “diligence and honor”, enhancing effectiveness of work concerning foreign affairs, and providing support with BISTU schools on foreign affairs, offices of International Cooperation Department offered training sessions on employment of foreign experts, faculty exchange with global institutions, student exchange programs, and foreign affairs events to be organized by BISTU schools.  

The Conference was attended by deans in charge of foreign affairs at BISTU schools and liaison offices of BISTU schools for foreign affairs.
