BISTU practice teaching and field education programs cover a variety of projects, such as in- and out-of-class lab courses, on- and off-campus practice bases, disciplinary subject contests, Undergraduate Graduation Design, Open Experimental Project, College Student Science and Technology Innovation Project, Undergraduate Practical Training and so on.

Over the past years, BISTU has enhanced the development and management of field education programs to improve students’ practical skills and creative abilities. Now BISTU owns one national model center for laboratory teaching, one national field education center in Engineering, four model centers of Beijing for laboratory teaching, three municipal-level off-campus university talent training bases, one municipal-level university talent training innovation workshop.

Every year BISTU provides full support to students’ practice and innovation activities including more than 50 disciplinary subject contests, around 100 material object graduation design projects, 100 open experimental projects, about 150 College Student Science and Technology Innovation Planning Projects. There are about 10,000 students taking part in all kinds of science and technology innovation activities and disciplinary competitions annually, among whom 1000 students win awards in the competitions at both provincial and ministerial level.

BISTU practice and field education programs are administered by both the university and different schools. The university is responsible for the over-all management of the practical programs including resource distribution, policies and rules, and teaching and performance assessment. Individual schools are in charge of specific field education activities.
