Beijing, 19th April 2024 (BISTU)--- Chairman Xie Jiangling of University Council and President Guo Fu met with Mayor Wu Xiaojie of Chaoyang District on 19th April 2024. Both parties held discussions on integrated development of strategic emerging industries, jointly building science and technology zones, supporting regional sci-tech innovation, and commercialization of research achievements.  

Wu Xiaojie extended warm welcome to BISTU delegation. Following the introduction of Chaoyang District in respect of industrial economic models, business plus technology-driven development strategy, new industries, etc., he expressed that strengths of BISTU in information technology is in line with the industrial development at Chaoyang District featured for artificial intelligence and digital security. It is hoped that both parties would strengthen collaboration in industry-education integration. High level scientific and technological innovation at BISTU would be able to empower development of sci-tech industries in Chaoyang District and the District would also provide quality service with development of BISTU. Wu Xiaojie said.  

Xie Jiangling expressed thanks to the care and support from Chaoyang District. He commented that Chaoyang District has made tremendous contributions to high quality development of Beijing in the new era. The educational feature and academic strengths of BISTU are solidly in agreement with industries based in Chaoyang, indicating a sound foundation for future cooperation. It is hoped that both parties would explore cooperation in respect of strategic emerging industries, jointly building science and technology zones, commercialization of research achievements, and international exchange and cooperation. Based on our strengths in education, talents, and science and technology, the University would strengthen university-local government cooperation to bring new momentum and vitality to industrial development in Chaoyang.  

Guo Fu offered an introduction to BISTU in respect of historical development, school-running orientation, three major features in education, and achievements in talent cultivation. He laid focus on achievements and experiences of the University in recent years in industry-education integration, science-education integration, and local government-university-enterprise integration. Centering on national key strategy and the strategy of building Beijing into “four centers”, BISTU has been concentrating on enhancing educational quality to provide greater support with regional development of Beijing. He added that cooperation in three aspects, i.e., integration of industry chain, innovation chain, and value chain, digital empowerment, and jointly building science and technology zones, should be strengthened. We are to nurture new momentum for digital economy so as to form new productive forces to promote high quality development of both parties.  

The meeting was joined by Director Yang Hongfu of Chaoyang District Management Committee of Zhongguancun Science Park, Director Guo Xun of General Administration Office of Chaoyang District Government, Director Zhang Kui of Housing and Urban-rural Development Office, Director Ma Hongjie of Planning and Natural Resources Bureau, officials of Jiuxianqiao Sub-district Administrative Office, and officials of Hujialou Sub-district Administrative Office. BISTU faculty and staff, including directors and deans of Office for Scientific Research, External Liaison Office, General Administration Office, and School of Instrumentation Science and Opto-electronic Engineering.
