Beijing, 10th April 2024 (BISTU)--- President Guo Fu chaired the meeting for industry-education integration and empowerment of digital transformation in small-and-medium enterprises at Shahe Campus on 9th April 2024.

Guo Fu expressed that building the center for empowerment of digital transformation in small-and-medium enterprises was an important step of the University in working together with Changping District to provide social service and contribute to educational development in areas around Beijing. It was a beneficial attempt to explore “school-local government cooperation, school-enterprise cooperation, and industry-education coordination”, a new paradigm in education. He stressed that a key issue of industry-education integration was to answer the questions “how and with whom we shall work in an integrated manner”. BISTU is a university with distinctive feature in information technology. We shall seek opportunities to establish cooperative links with key state-owned enterprises to nurture our students with the help of national key projects. And BISTU shall take into consideration the industrial needs in Changping District, Tongzhou District, Zhangjiakou, Gu’an, etc., to train our students to produce solutions to real-life problems.

Guo Fu pointed out that the center for empowerment of digital transformation in small-and-medium enterprises was an important practice that the University has taken to build a strong nation of education, a key step in running schools in areas around Beijing, and an innovative move in conducting organized research, organized talent cultivation, and organized commercialization of research achievements. It is in accordance with the trend of our times.

Guo Fu raised requirements on building the center in three aspects. First, we should attach enough importance to this matter. We were aiming at building the center into a model institution for industry-education integration which would provide service with local society and economy and which can promote the reform of talent cultivation at the University. Second, joint efforts of all schools and divisions were requested. Coordination from BISTU schools and divisions, plus top design, policy support and resources from the University, would ensure success of the center. And third, equal importance should be attached to external publicity. The center was expected to become a carrier of external publicity. And we were to produce BISTU-featured solutions to digital transformation of various enterprises.

Vice President Wang Xingfen stressed that we should constantly deepen the reform and enhance the level of talent cultivation while investing efforts in building the center for empowerment of digital transformation in small-and-medium enterprises.

The meeting was attended by directors and deans of General Administration Office, Academic Affairs Office, Postgraduate School, Office for Scientific Research, Office for Industrial Development, External Liaison Office, School of Computer Science, School of Economics and Management, and School of Information Management.
