BISTU Students Shine in the 26th “FLTRP ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition for College Students

Beijing, 2nd April 2024 (BISTU)--- Xu Yunzhi and Zhao Jiayi from School of Foreign Studies (supervised by Yin Zhuhui and Ding Jianyi) shone in with a second prize the North-China semi-final of the 26th “FLTRP ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition for College Students held from 30th March to 31st March in Beijing.  

The Competition attracted 88 teams from higher educational institutions in north China. Facing with strong competitors, BISTU contestants conducted earnest post-game analysis and adjusted their debating strategies in a timely manner. Finally, their outstanding performance won them the second prize! 

Founded in 1997, “FLTRP ETIC Cup” National English Debating Competition for College Students has become a heavyweight competition among universities and has been included four years in a row in Subject Competition Ranking for Innovative Talent Cultivation in Chinese Universities published by Ministry of Education. Aiming at nurturing globalized talents who have international horizon, master professional skills, tell China’s story well, and perform global duties, the Competition is a platform of thought and idea exchanging for English-speaking debaters.  

BISTU attached great importance to the national heavyweight English events for university students, and the School of Foreign Studies has set up a competition workshop for this purpose to enhance the cultivation of compound foreign language talents. Recent years witnessed increasing level and competence of BISTU debaters.
